Social Guidelines and Forum Rules
1.) Introduction
Wheel of Games incorporates different languages on one platform and therefore offers a space for people, to freely share their opinions and interests of all kind (provided they don?t violate the forum?s general rules).
Plese keep in mind that general netiquette as well as its guideline - ?Never forget that there?s a person on the other side of the screen? - apply for our forum.
2.) Forum Account
In general. You are in need of a forum account if you want to create threads and to comment on existing ones in the Wheel of Games Forum. Your account is directly linked to the forum if you register on the main site.
Naming. You may use any name/login which isn?t considered sexual offensive or racist, doesn?t glorify violence, is not intended to affront existing persons and is in no other way morally objectionable according to netiquette.
3.) General Forum Rules
Language. Please use the national language of the forum you are posting in. Other users will appreciate a basic grasp of grammar and some use of capitalization and punctuation instead of sentences finishing with multiple ???????.
"Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind."
- Terry Pratchett
Manners. Treat others with the same respect you would like to be treated with. This is especially valid when talking to new users: Everyone once started from scratch. Respect private opinions (may they be general, political, philosophical or cultural) of others in a discussion. Swear words, scatalogy and similar offensive expressions will not be tolerated. These rules apply for the complete forum area (also signatures and profiles).
4.) General Rules and Hints for Creating and Answering Topics/Posts
- If you create a new topic, please make sure that it doesn?t exist yet, by using the search function. Refrain from creating new topics for already existent discussions, but join the established threads instead.
- Use a significant, clear title for your topic, which allows others to assess the content of your thread. Do not try to call for the attention of others, especially for that of administrators. Please make use of the private message function for such purposes.
- Regarding questions and answers: Users will join a discussion, if they want to contribute or know the correct answer to your question. Avoid pushing your thread up by making simple ?bump? posts if you do not receive an answer at once.
5.) General remarks about objectionable content, prohibition and sanctions
Statements which discriminate, glorify violence, are (religiously/politically/philosophically/culturally) inhuman or chargeable in any other way are strictly forbidden.
Due to this, posts with the following content are just as forbidden:
- flame posts. Flaming describes a verbal attack on a person or a group of persons.
- troll posts. Troll posts want to provoke other users (by for example irrelevant and destructive criticism).
- spam. Posts are regarded as spam if they don?t contribute to the actual topic (off-topic posts), contain only one sentence or words as ?sign? or simply express approval over and over again to literally flood the thread.
- cross posting. Posts, which try to direct attention to another, unrelated thread are not wanted. Just as linking threads in other threads is objectionable if it happens only for the purpose of attention grabbing.
- exploit/cheat posts. Wheel of Games is a fairplay platform. Any posts which give advice or hints to abuse certain game mechanics in order to gain some benefit will be deleted. (Cheats which have been included by the developer are of course excluded from this rule).
- profanity. Swear words, scatalogy or any other objectionable expressions are not welcome and will be deleted.
- nekroposting. ?Bumping? of threads which have been inactive for more than three months is not wanted. the resurrection of older and no longer recent discussions may cause confusion and irritation for other users.
- reposting of moderated topics. If a thread was closed by a moderator, it is prohibited to reopen it. (Exception: The discussion was relocated by a moderator or closed due to overlength).
Summing up, you agree herewith
- not to post any material which is wrong, slanderous, insulting, full of hate, abusive, obscene, profane or sexist or could be perceived as threatening
- not to hurt anyone?s privacy or to launch a personal attack at someone
- not to publish any material which is coprighted or proprietary in any other way
- not to post any illegal content or links
- not to start discussions about politics and faith.
6.) Moderation
Please refrain from creating threads which only serve to offend or defame moderators in public. Personal matters regarding one of the moderators are to be discussed with the moderator himself or the responsible super moderator/coordinator.
If a moderator considers one of the aforementioned rules violated or a conversation growing unfriendly, he is authorised to moderate or even close a thread and send out private messages.
Moderators also pertain the right to ban users after advance notice for a certain amount of time or even permanently if they frequently violate the rules and behave quite rude in general.
We would like to point out that we will not be able to read every single post or prove the truth of every single topic because of the forum?s real-time nature. We don?t guarantee for the authenticity or integrity of every post and are not responsible for the threads? contents.
Every user is encouraged to report a post if it appears to be violating forum rules. We will sort the matter out in a reasonable way. We have the means and proclaim the right to edit or delete ineligible posts.
We expect every user to read these rules, understand and respect them and first and foremost, to always adher to them.
The Wheel of Games Team proclaims the right to amend or change these rules at any given time. If applicable changes will be indicated or announced.
